Notes from the Bay: It Was a Delicious Week!
Hello, friends! It’s another Sunday—the day before Labor Day, which here in the U.S. feels like the unofficial end of summer. It’s also when those funny “rules” kick in, like not wearing white after Labor Day (though honestly, I think we can all agree those rules are meant to be broken!).
Here in Minnesota, the temps have turned perfectly cozy, so I’m grabbing my favorite mug—hot coffee, of course—while I sit down to share what’s been happening this week. New books arrived at the cottage, I’ve made some good progress on my TBR, and there’s been plenty going on around the blog.
And with Labor Day weekend giving us a three-day stretch, I’m hoping to sneak in even more reading time. So, pour yourself something warm, curl up in your favorite chair, and join me for this week’s Notes from the Bay.
This Week on the Blog
This past week on the blog was, in many ways, downright delicious. A few of the books I featured had such mouthwatering descriptions of food that I found myself inspired to spend extra time in the kitchen—because sometimes stories and recipes just go hand in hand. On top of that, my current read has me completely hooked.
Book & Bites No. 1: Cozy-Up with The Honeycrisp Orchard and Homemade Apple Cider Donuts
Book Beginnings on Friday, First Line Friday and The Friday 56: A Queen’s Heart

From Books to Film
This week, I was especially excited to watch new The Thursday Murder Club movie on Netflix. The film is inspired by the bestselling book of the same name by Richard Osman, a cozy mystery that captured readers’ hearts with its witty humor, lovable characters, and clever twists. I am sharing both versions of the poster that were published because I love a well thought out poster.
The film was an absolute delight! It had everything I adore in a cozy mystery — a touch of intrigue, a charming castle setting, quirky and wonderfully feisty characters, and, of course, a murder that kept me guessing until the very end.
What really surprised me, though, were all the twists and turns I didn’t see coming. Just when I thought I had it figured out, the story pulled me in a new direction, keeping me completely hooked. The atmosphere was so rich and inviting that I felt like I was right there, wandering the halls and soaking in the stunning scenery. If you love the cozy-yet-clever feel of a good whodunit, this one is an absolute must-watch.
