Book Beginnings on Friday, First Line Friday and The Friday56: A Queen’s Heart
It is Friday, so that means that it is time for Book Beginnings on Friday at Rose City Reader and First Line Friday at Reading in My Superpower. And this one today is extra special for me, and hooked me from the beginning:
“Before there was a queen, there was a girl born of light. Alira Sinclair, daughter of King Adrian and Queen Leah of The Dawn, carried a rare and sacred bloodline—one that marked her for death. Long ago, the world had known magic—wild and strange, whispered through ancient courts and secret texts. In Alira’s time, it was little more thana memory." No one lived by it. No one trusted it.”
For The Friday56 at My Heads if Full of Books we skip to page 56:
“Damon met her gaze. He didn’t speak—only held her eyes for a heartbeat, steady and sure. It was the kind of look that made promises without words. The, gently, he reached up and brushed his fingers along the side of her face—a soft, grounding touch meant only for her. Without hesitation, he stepped down onto the stone. The air changes. The silence deepened. “
The Queen’s Heart by Karen Rhodes a clean, slow-burn fantasy romance filled with court intrigue, protective love, and a queen who never loses herself. Just to clarify—I’m not here to judge anyone’s preference for spicy reads. They’re just not my personal cup of tea. Lately, it feels like many fantasy books lean heavily into that element, so finding one that focuses more on emotion and story has been a refreshing change. This book was exactly that—a much-needed break. Here’s a quick summary:
Born in shadows, Alira is the hidden Princess of the Dawn who becomes Queen of war-forged Valtoria. Married to the feared yet devoted King Damon, their unexpected union sparks both love and unrest. As a daughter of light in a kingdom shaped by steel, Alira faces courtly mistrust, political scheming, and whispered betrayals—not with swords, but with vision and grace. With enemies closing in and loyalty uncertain even within palace walls, Alira and Damon must navigate power, danger, and love, proving that true strength lies in unity.
I am really excited to share the review once I finish it because this may be one of my new favorite fantasy romance couples.
